Meditation Books

What are some of the best books on meditation?

I am not religious but would like to slowly start practicing meditation.
To elaborate, I have a really hard time relaxing – really don’t know how to do it. I want to learn how to actually meditate and practice this daily. Right now I can’t even take 15 seconds to clear my mind.

Andrew Weiss, who is ordained in both Thich Nhat Hanh’s Order of Interbeing and the White Plum Lineage of the Japanese Soto Zen Tradition – has an excellent beginner’s book on the practice of Mindfulness Meditation called “Beginning Mindfulness: Learning The Way of Awareness.” *It teaches Mindfulness of Breathing, Walking Meditation, Mindfulness Meditation, Loving-kindness Meditation, Tonglin: The Art of Practicing Compassion, and Mindfulness in Everyday Life. *’This is definately one of ‘the’ best beginner’s books to use when starting to learn and practice mindfulness meditation.

“Present Moment, Wonderful Moment” and “Peace Is Every Step” By: Thich Nhat Hanh are also excellent books on Meditation.

“Mindfulness in Plain English” By: Henepola Gunaratana is offered on the internet freely to read. It’s an excellent nuts and bolts, how to manuel on Mindfulness Meditation:

Meditation in India: just try meditation techniques in india

We are providing you the mental peace through zmeditation.com with various courses and techniques like Meditation Courses, Online meditation course, How to meditate, meditation retreats, Meditation technique etc. Z Meditation is a systematic deep work of inquiring into the conditionings that are hidden in the unconscious regions of your mind. There is a possibility for you to completely eliminate suffering from your life. Freedom, Bliss and Awareness are not mere esoteric words. You can experience them as your true identities.

Z Meditation Online Course is a beautifully effective solution to overcome this problem. Sitting at home and doing all your daily chores, there is a possibility of learning and practicing the deepest principles of freedom – freedom from all deep rooted stories, illusions, conditionings and agitations. Using these principles, in the past thirteen years, thousands of students have been able to transcend their deep-rooted habit patterns and see refreshing light for their lives. The effects of this work are literally mind blowing!

In the Z Meditation Spiritual Retreats, the technique used is rational and analytical. You learn to detach from your mind’s patterns and systematically root out the roots of turbulence using deep inquiry. You employ radiant and rational mantras to get established in your pristine glory. The silence helps a lot in deep contemplation and integration.

Most of us here have forgotten smiling. Who has the time to care and share? We have got so much lost in the un-necessities and urgencies of life that the truly important values have been forgotten. Our mental state is clearly reflected on our faces. Why has this happened? Do we want to get back to the state of childlike carefree-ness and abandon? Do we have time to reflect and take corrective actions? Do we understand that the best changes about life are internal changes? Let us make one thing very clear to ourselves – if we don’t do something about our minds now, if we are not proactively trying to lift it out of its current state, it will always remain like that. It will not change and there is no magic wand that can change it overnight.

Z Meditation is taught in two levels. The first level is a fifteen-day and the second is a eight-day silent retreat held at Z Meditation Center in India. In the first level of learning, one gets all the basic knowledge of mind and meditation. One gets the knowledge and practice of the Deep DeConditioning Inquiry and Radiant Mantras. In the second level, the questions of Deep DeConditioning Inquiry deepen further and the strongest false beliefs are rooted out from the mind. The second level helps in realizing the Self that is the source of the mind and the universe.

Benefits of Z Meditation
When you sincerely practice Z Meditation, it can lead to the following uplifting results:

can listening to relaxing / meditation music while studying help you remember?

i’m studdying for a test, will listening to relaxing meditation music help me stay focused or remember?

thank you for your help

No…. and the analogy im going to use is one i hate to voice, but it works for this explanation. But I do not want you to think that i am comparing the human mentality to unemotional circuitry.

The part of your brain that receives environmental stimuli and interprets it is like the RAM of a computer, to many applications running at the same time can bog down your brain, and any additional stimuli causes a loss in focus and interpretation.

The best way to learn something is to read write and listen to the information. I don’t remember the name of the technique, but since it gives you repetition of the information in three separate mental stimuli, that supposedly access your memory through different synapses or some such shite, it helps you retain the information better that just doing one of them.

Meditation Cds

What is the best ‘guided meditation’ cd out there?

In meditation classes, I’ve had instructors ‘guide’ us by saying things like ‘imagine a warm glow around your feet..slowly moving up your calves..’ etc..are there any cd’s like that?

I have used “Insight Meditation” Which I have found to be helpful, it consists of a cd set and guidebook. The cds walk you through different types of meditation. I reference a link to the set on eBay…and the course was put together by Sharon Salzberg and Joseph Goldstein.
Good Luck =)
